Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost for a cleaning?

The cost of a dental cleaning depends on several factors, including the time required and the level of care needed. For new patients, the first visit includes a comprehensive exam to establish a baseline for your oral health, which may result in a higher cost than subsequent appointments. This is why we cannot provide a fixed price before booking a visit. At Colleen Dental Hygiene Care, we follow the NB fee guide to ensure our rates are consistent with industry standards.

Do I need to break up with my dentist?

Absolutely not! We strongly recommend maintaining regular visits with your dentist and scheduling an annual dental exam. During your appointment, our dental hygienist will thoroughly document and inform you of any areas of concern in your oral health. With your consent, we can refer you to your dentist or other healthcare providers for further evaluation. If you don't currently have a dentist, we work closely with several dental professionals in the area and would be happy to recommend one based on your specific needs.

Will my dentist be upset that I’m getting my dental cleaning at your clinic?

No. The power is in your hands when it comes to choosing your dental hygienist. You have the right to choose the healthcare professional taking care of your oral health. You can choose your dental hygienist whether they practice for a dentist or practice independently. Having the same dental hygienist at each visit can provide extra level of comfort and effective care. Visit the Canadian Dental Hygiene Association’s (CDHA) website to view the “Client’s Bill of Rights”.

What insurance carrier can you direct bill?

We direct bill many major insurance providers, including [Blue Cross: Sun Life: Canada Life : Telus AdjudiCare : Johnson Insurance : Manulife: Green Shield : Desjardins : Co-Operators : Claim Secure]. If your insurance provider is not listed here, please don’t hesitate to reach out, and we’ll gladly verify whether we can bill them directly on your behalf.

Does my insurance cover your services?

Of course! If you have coverage through your group plan insurance, you'll receive the same benefits as you would at a dentist’s office.

Most insurance plans also cover our travel fee. For your convenience, we offer direct billing to most major insurance companies. Please note that if we direct bill to your insurance, we are not responsible if the payment does not process on the day of your appointment.

Am I a good candidate for teeth whitening?

You may be a good candidate if you have healthy teeth and gums with no fillings/crowns/veneers on the teeth that are visible when you smile. The whitening product will only change shade on natural teeth. To achieve the best possible outcome, we suggest getting a professional dental cleaning before your whitening treatment.

Is teeth whitening covered under insurance?

In most cases, teeth whitening is considered a cosmetic treatment and is not covered under standard dental insurance plans. However, it is always best to check with your insurance provider to confirm their coverage policies.

How much does professional teeth whitening session cost?
Our teeth whitening treatment starts at $200 for the initial 60-minute session. Following that, you can book a touch-up session based on the results, with options as follows:

30-minute touch-up: $100

45-minute touch-up: $150

60-minute touch-up: $200

For our hygiene patients, we also offer a 20-minute whitening boost for $75. Please note that a $30 travel fee applies for appointments outside of our service zones, in addition to the cost of the whitening treatment.

How long does whitening treatment last?

Teeth whitening isn’t permanent. By following some simple post-whitening care instructions, your teeth will always be lighter than they were before. The treatment can last up to a few months to two years – it varies from patient to patient and is dependent on many factors (coffee, tea, red wine, smoking etc.) Some patients book a touch-up every few months and others once a year.

Is your van wheelchair accessible?

At the moment, our mobile dental clinic is not fully wheelchair accessible. However, we are actively working on solutions to improve accessibility and appreciate your patience as we make these enhancements. In the meantime, we have portable equipment that allows us to accommodate patients with physical limitations inside their homes or other accessible spaces. Our goal is to ensure that everyone receives the care they need comfortably and conveniently.

Since we are travelling to your location, this practice is essential for managing our schedule effectively and minimizing last-minute cancellations and no-shows. Rest-assured your credit card information is stored securely in our payment processor and is used only for this purpose.
